Vancouver summer is an oxymoron

I always knew that the weather here sucks big time (although the locals will tell you it's great!), but normally summers are somewhat tolerable at 24C-26C and sunshine. Not so this year.

I went on vacation in July and good that I did, because apparently the two weeks i was gone it's was cold at 16C, rainy and miserable. Then it was OK until August 7th.

This week, though the weather is turning back to its usual Vancouver special - 18C, overcast skies, and a drizzle that could start any minute.

Don't listen to the locals, they find any mention of the horrible depressing weather here offensive! They will tell you that summers are gorgeous here, and that everyone wants to live in this paradise. I have come to the conclusion that they are either:
1) never been anywhere and actually think that 20C and arctic wind on a dirty rocky "beach" is perfect summertime activity
2) so smug that they simply won't admit that this dump is what it is - a small grey town located near the ocean and mountains.

I am in the midst of planning my escape from this dump, if everything goes according to plan, I will be out of here sooner than later.
