Stripey Pattern

For 32/34" chest, waist is 23"

GAUGE
22 st per 4". Any wool DK yarn will do.

6 balls of Superwash Merino Elann.com - black
2 balls of Superwash Merino Elann.com - white

NEEDLE
4mm circulars in 16" and 32"



FRONT AND BACK
cast on 84st,
knit even for 2 inches
*on RS, k1, ssk, k till last 3 stitches, k2t, k1
work 1 inch even*

Repeat until the fabric measures 7", changing color every 4" (as instructed in the patrern).
on RS, k1, ssk, k till last 3 stitches, k2t, k1
should have 72 stitches (at the waist), work even for 6 or 7 rows (until the fabric measures 8"),
start increases:
when fabric measures 8", ?* increase 1 st at each side, change color to black on next row, work even for 10 rows*

repeat * 4 more times,

increase 1 st at each end,
should be 84 st at the breast

after the last increase, knit one row even, should measure 15.5".
Arm hole shaping:
- at the beginning of next 2 rows bind off 4 st
- decrease 1 st @ each end 3 times every row
- work 1 row even
- next row, decrease 1 st @ each end
- change color to black
- work next row even
- next row, decrease 1 st @ each end
- work next row even
- next row, decrease 1 st @ each end

work even until the armhole length is 4", increase 1 st (LI) at each end
work even for 2 more inches, increase 1 st at each end

should have 68 st,

Back Only:
Work even until the armhole length is 7.25", on RS
knit 13 st, place on stitch holder, bind off 42 st, knit till end.
armhole length should be 7.75".

Front Only:
Work even until the armhole length is 7", on RS
knit 16 st, place on stitch holder, bind off 36 st, knit till end. Move one shoulder on the stitch holder.
Next row knit 14, k2tog, k1 (15 st); repeat 2 more times - 13 st. Bind off.

Repeat the same for the other shoulder.
Armhole length should be 7.75".

SLEEVES (make 2)
Pick up 67 st around the armhole. With top down method, allocate 23 st for sleeve cap. After short rowing the cap (as per top down sleeve method - this method could be found in Barbara Walker's book, I will soon create a tutorial here as well, meanwhile PM me on ravelry and I will email you the tutorial), place a marker underarm - center marker, knit even in the round for 7 rows.
Next row, decrease 2 st on both sides of the center marker, knit 7 rows, decrease 2 st again, knit 1 row even.
should have 63 st,
from the center marker, knit 18 st, [ k2tog, k1] repeat 8 times, k2tog, knit 19 st (54st)

knit 2 rows.
next row, from center marker, [k3 st, k2tog], repeat 10 times, knit remaining stitches (44st)
knit 2 rows,
next row: bind off

COWL
Starting at the right shoulder using crochet hook pick up stitches evenly - 1 stitch per stitch bound off. Place markers at each shoulder.Knit in the round.
Starting with black color knit 4 inches even, then change to white knitting 4" even. Change to black on the next row. Next round is the increase round.

Increase Round:
increase (using left increase) one stitch before the marker, one increase after. Repeat the increases on another marker. (Total row increase - 4 stitches).
Knit 1" inch even, repeat the increase round. Repeat 2 more times.
Bind off.

Block.
